Director's Corner,

 

April Showers Bring May Flowers OR April Showers Bring New Services to Your Library – Check out your library for new offerings.  Paige, Kaylee and I are excited to bring new things to you this month.  Don’t forget to check out our Story Time Program, Libby, hoopla, Ancestry, Craft & Hobby, Tutor.com, Potter Park Zoo, Impression 5, and  MeL along with copy, faxing and scanning services.  Stop in and find out how we can help you with your requests.

 

Celebration Days During National Library Week –

                April 7 – Right to Read Day – a day for readers, advocates and library lovers to celebrate the right to read.

                April 8 – National  Library Workers Day – a day for library staff, users, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers (Thank You Kaylee and Paige)

                April 9 – National Library Outreach Day – a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library staff who are meeting their patrons where they are.

                April 10 – Take Action for Libraries Day – a day to rally advocates to support libraries.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that Lu Ann Stachnik, PBTDL Library Director, proclaims  April 6 – 12, 2025 as National Library Week.  During this week, I encourage all residents to visit their library, explore its resources, and celebrate all the ways that the library draws us together as a community.

Cat of the Month!

Since we post a different cat for every month, we thought why not let you all show us your cats! So we introduce Cat of the month.  Each month we will pick a cat to put in our enewsletter. You can send them to us through messenger or comment on our Facebook post with their name.

Student Trustee Application

We are looking for a Student Library trustee for our PBTDL Library Board! They would serve as a representive for the teens in the Potterville area as well as represent the school, community, and the youth in the community. 

The requirements for the role is that you must attend monthly meetings that are at 6:30 on the first Monday of the month. You must have a card at our library and live in either Potterville or Benton  Township. You must also be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade for the 2025/2026 school year. 

The application is at the library for you to pick up.

 

Coloring Contest!

With Easter coming around the corner here soon, we want to see your best Easter picture! We have the coloring sheets ready for you.   All you need to do is color them and bring them back to us by April 8th!  We can't wait to see what your creative minds do. Come in to pick up your sheet today!

We have FREE Covid-19 Tests!

If you are feeling under the weather,  we are giving away Covid tests. Two tests per box. If you have a family of four,  you can get four boxes.  Stay safe out there!

 

Ancestry has arrived!

Ever wonder what your grandpa was doing before you came around? Well wonder no more as we now have Ancestry here at the Library! Come inside and get on a comupter and see what your family was up to before your time.  You will learn so much about your family with just a few key strokes.

 

We have Tutor.com!

It is about that time of year where kids have to take the  ACT and SAT. Don't worry, though, because we have Tutor.com! Tutor.com has review tests so your kids can get prepared for the SAT.  Look it up to prepare for that big test!

The Happy Bookers: BookAholics Book Club

The Book Club is back in session and they are reading  "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir . If you are interested, please plan on attending the meeting on April 9th at 3:00 PM right at the library or call us at 645-2989 for more details.  We hope to see you there!

The Well Read Shed

The Well Read Shed is back open!  We are having a "special" for each week in April. 

Week One - Janet Evanovich  -  each hardback book that you buy for $1.00, the second Janet Evanovich hardback is $.50.  The more you buy, the better the deal.  Come and check it out!

 Week Two  -  is buy one Young Adult book for $1, get the second Young Adult book free.

The groups of OverDrive consortia that are participating in the statewide reciprocal borrowing agreement keeps growing. 

 

To add partner libraries to your Libby app:

Tap on the Libby logo in the center 

Select Menu
Select Add Library

Search for one of the Partner Libraries (listed below)
Select Sign In With My Card
Under Partner Libraries select Your Local Public Library
Enter your Card Number and PIN
Select Next
Repeat process until all Partner Libraries have been added


Partner libraries are: Lakeland Digital Library, Suburban Library Cooperative, Download Destination, Great Lakes Digital Libraries, Midwest Collaborative for Library Services, Up North Michigan Consortium, Woodlands Downloadable Library, White Pine Library Cooperative, and Metro Net Library Consortium.
